This year, takealot.com is taking Black Friday beyond a single week, bringing Black Friday-priced deals to South Africans from late October throughout November. Backed by solid buying behavioural patterns, Takealot has responded to South African shoppers’ needs by extending the Black Friday shopping experience to an entire month. This will afford South African shoppers more time, more choice and more ways to find the deals they’re looking for.
With over 5 million shoppers, more than 1 billion product searches annually and a delivery network backed by more than 15,000 drivers, Takealot has a unique view of how South Africans shop. Last year’s Black Friday sales broke records, and this year shoppers can expect new deals throughout the month.
Takealot’s platform provides a unique window into shopper intent and behaviour. Over the past year, this has included:
- 43 million kilometres driven since January 2026, equivalent to 8,844 laps around Mzansi’s border
- 1 in 5 deliveries in South Africa are fulfilled via Takealot Fulfilment Solutions with over 98% of deliveries on time
- The quickest TakealotNOW delivery clocked at 35 minutes
- 2.2 million orders collected from just the top five Takealot Pickup Points
- 89 million wishlists and growing
“These aren’t just metrics, they’re millions of individual decisions that, when aggregated, tell us the story of a nation’s needs, wants, and aspirations,” says Karla Levick, Chief Marketing Officer at Takealot. “From the products people search for to the time of day they shop, every aggregated data point helps us serve South Africans better.”
WHAT SOUTH AFRICANS ARE SHOPPING FOR
After 15 years of connecting South African consumers with millions of products, Takealot has established itself as a definitive voice on South African e-commerce behaviour. Having first introduced Black Friday to South Africa in 2012, Takealot helped build what has become one of the country’s biggest retail events.
Takealot’s search data shows strong and sustained interest across tech, homeware, beauty and everyday essentials, with products ranging from washing machines and TVs to air fryers, furniture, beauty, toys and household staples among the platform’s most searched and purchased categories.
The data also shows that South Africans shop around the clock. Gauteng leads midnight shopping, followed by the Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal, while digital products such as airtime and vouchers are particularly popular between 2–4 AM.
This 24/7 behaviour reflects the flexibility of online shopping – and the need for delivery options that work around the customer, whether they need an order in minutes, the same day, the next day or later.
“Since we first brought Black Friday to South Africa in 2012, we’ve watched it grow from a single day of deals into a month-long celebration of value that millions of South Africans now mark on their calendars,” said Levick.
BLACK NOVEMBER: DEALS ALL MONTH LONG
“This year, we’re bringing Black Friday-priced deals across the entire month of November so our customers can shop on their terms and at their pace – but Black Friday on 27 November is still the main event, with exclusive deals landing that day from midnight.” Levick added.
From 26 October to 23 November 2026, South Africans can look forward to new Black Friday-priced deals across a range of categories every week.
Partner brands like L’Oreal, NYX, Clarins, Xiaomi, Haleon and Canon will also be dropping flash sales throughout the month, while stocks last.
Takealot’s Black November deals will also be available throughout the month on TakealotNOW via Mr D.
